Pole Treatment
We are licensed Pesticide Applicators, which enables us to do Pole Treating, both internal and external. This treatment is done on a selective basis.
We treat poles in the following ways:
- Externally with preservative for the presence of surface (external) decay.
- Internally with preservative for the presence of Heart-Rot (internal) decay.
- Internally with a combination of preservative and an approved pesticide for internal decay and infestation by wood destroying insects, most commonly but not limited to carpenter ants (Camponotus sp.)
WE DO NOT ADVOCATE THE TREATMENT OF GOOD POLES.
Some companies tout treating as a way of "extending the life of a pole". Unless a pole has reached the point of rejection, how can you know you are extending its life? What is the safe effective life of the particular pole in question?
